D&M’s Utility Division crews installed 17,500 energy-efficient LED streetlights in the City of Syracuse as part of the New York Power Authority’s Smart Street Lighting NY program. The streetlights will save the city $3.3M annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 8,500 tons per year.
The project features smart city technology from Cimcon which allows unlimited configuration of lighting control along with other future add-on technology such as video surveillance, crowd detection and parking applications, just to name a few.
In November 2020, StateTech Magazine, a trade publication covering governmental technology named Syracuse as one of 8 rising smart city stars, as a result of the project.
"Syracuse is truly a pioneer in its exploration of using SMART technologies to improve public services and the Power Authority was thrilled to partner with the city on this innovative initiative." -NYPA CEO Gil C. Quiniones
