D&M was awarded the prime contract to install concrete reinforced duct banks.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is an industry leading biotechnical company headquartered in Tarrytown, NY. Due to Regeneron’s constant expansion and modernization at the campus, they required several additional high voltage feeders to help equally distribute load on their system. D&M was awarded the prime contract to install concrete reinforced duct banks, manholes and new 15kV, 500 kcmil copper feeders as well as all splicing, termination and testing.
D&M performed all scopes in-house with it’s own workforce with the exception of site work which was subcontracted to Montesano Brothers, Inc.
The project required an intense level of planning and project management in order to install the underground duct bank system consisting of nearly 2 miles of 5” conduit, in an active 150 acre campus which actually spans (2) different municipalities. The project required road crossings to get from the Powerhouse building which is located in the Town of Mt. Pleasant to the South Campus which is located in the Town of Greenburg.
Once the underground subway was installed, D&M crews pulled nearly 2 ½ miles of 15kV, 500kcmil copper cables and performed splicing and terminations. The work to cut over to the new feeders required an even higher level of coordination to switch the entire campus over to standby generators while the new feeders were spliced to the existing feeders.
D&M provided value engineering to Regeneron that resulted in credits back to the owner for unnecessary items which ultimately brought the project in on-time and under budget.
